New Car Buying Platform
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has initiated a voluntary recall campaign of 2,305 units for the Glanza premium hatchback. Certain media reports suggest that the manufacturer has identified an issue with the fuel pump motor in affected vehicles, which could result in engine stalling. These affected units were manufactured between April 2 and October 6, 2019. However, Toyota will reach out to affected customers to arrange necessary procedures, all of which will be conducted free of charge.
Important Note: Toyota Glanza being recalled in this campaign is the previous generation model; it is not the one that is currently on sale. The hatchback shares its platform with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which was also subjected to a recent recall due to the same issue, as both models were manufactured in the same Maruti Suzuki facility.
Individual customers will be contacted by representatives from Toyota dealerships to facilitate the campaign procedures.
For further details on the recall, customers can reach out to their nearest dealership or contact the Customer Assistance Centre. In addition, customers can verify whether their vehicle is affected by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Toyota’s official website.
At present, the Glanza is available in four variants - E, S, G, and V. All these offer both manual and automatic transmission options, with prices starting from Rs 6.86 lakh going up to Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Talking about its engine details, the hatchback is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol unit. It can produce a maximum power output of 89 bhp with 113 Nm of peak torque. As for the transmission options, these include a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT unit, with a CNG variant also being part of the package.
