Japanese auto giant, Toyota cars has revealed the first official teaser of the upcoming Innova Hycross MPV. Set for a global debut in Indonesia next month, the new MPV will be based on an all new monocoque construction and hybrid powertrain.
Going by the teaser image, the all-new Toyota Innova Hycross is set to debut a new design characterised by a large hexagonal grille along with new LED headlight units. Adding more character to the large MPV, the flat and upright bonnet gets bold crease along with a new bumper design.
The Toyota Innova Hycross will be underpinned by the company’s globally popular TNGA-C architecture. The new monocoque chassis construction translates to better on-road manners and lighter construction. The new construction will also move the Hycross to a FWD configuration, which will be a first for any Innova. The monocoque construction has also helped the company scram in a panoramic sunroof, helping enhance the premium quotient of the car.
The biggest talking point of the new Innova Hycross will be the heavily localised 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid unit that will be replacing the turbodiesel unit. It will be most likely mated to an e-CVT transmission. There will be a non-hybrid petrol engine on offer as well.
Toyota has already started testing the Toyota Innova Hycross in India and is expected to launch it around early 2023. Upon launch, it will compete against the likes of the Kia Carnival and comes in at Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
