Renault Group has officially announced that it will be present at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. The Group’s all brands including Renault, Dacia, Alpine, Mobilize and Renault PRO+ will showcase a wide range of new cars and concepts at the event. The Group has announced to have 7 world premieres and 2 concept cars will debut at the Paris Motor Show.
The big news is that the India-bound new-gen Duster and a new 7-seater C-segment SUV will make their public debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. In 2021, Renault's Dacia brand had showcased the Bigster SUV concept. This concept previews the design direction for the third-gen Duster and its 7-seater version.
The production version of the Bigster SUV will eventually make its way to India and will be sold through Renault nameplate. The SUV has been caught testing numerous times on the foreign soil. For people not in the know, the third-gen Dacia Duster and Renault Duster are already on sale in global markets.
The Bigster 7-seater SUV shares its platform, body panels, interior components and specifications with the Duster SUV. It will be built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-B modular platform, which will be modified to accommodate a longer wheelbase and a third-row SUV. It is likely to measure around 4.6 metres in length, which is around 300mm longer than the Duster SUV.
The new model is likely to be offered with both 'alternative energy' and hybrid powertrains. In the Indian market, the Bigster or a 7-seater Duster will rival the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and others. Dacia claims that the new model will be a good value for money product, and will have a price tag closer to that of smaller 5-seater SUVs.
The new 7-Seater SUV will come with both ICE and hybrid powertrain options. It is likely to receive the brand's new Hybrid 140 and 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which is also available in the new Duster. The Hybrid 140 strong hybrid engine features a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine, a 1.2kWh battery pack, a 49bhp electric motor, and a starter generator.
The 1.2L turbo petrol engine is benefited with a 48V mild hybrid system. It will come with multiple driving modes, along with an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain system. However, the India-spec model is likely to get a 1.3L turbo petrol or a 1.5L NA petrol engine.
