New Car Buying Platform
We had witnessed several new models at this year's edition of the Bharat Mobility Show, which was held in the first week of February. The next edition of the BMS is scheduled to happen from 17-22 January. The automakers are yet to make an official announcement on their product line-up for the upcoming Motor Show. However, we compiled the probable list of the exciting new cars set to make their debut at the Auto Expo 2025.
The long-awaited Creta EV is scheduled to enter the production line by December 2024, while launch is likely to happen in January 2025. The electric SUV is expected to make its global debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Show.
The Hyundai Creta EV will be equipped with a 45kWh battery pack. It is likely to share its electric motor with the new-gen Kona EV on sale in the global markets. The front-axle-mounted motor is likely to offer around 138bhp and 255Nm of torque. The SUV should offer a range of over 400km on a single charge.
The SUV has been caught testing numerous times, revealing some EV-specific changes. The charging port is now mounted on the front. Some of the design highlights will include a closed-off grille, new alloy wheels, revised tailgate and others. The Creta EV is most likely to get Hyundai's Level 2 ADAS suite with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others.
The next model in our list of upcoming cars at Bharat Mobility Show 2025 is the production-ready Mahindra XUV.e8. The SUV was originally planned to be launched by December 2024; however, new reports suggest that the SUV will go on sale in the first quarter of 2025. This Born-electric SUV is based on the INGLO skateboard architecture, which will also be used to develop 4 more electric SUVs. The production-ready model is most likely to make its debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show.
The Mahindra XUV.e8 looks similar to the XUV700; however, it will have several EV-specific design and interior changes. The concept model is 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700. It will come with an all-wheel-drive system with dual-motor setup. It is expected to feature a battery pack of up to 80kWh and the electric motors could offer outputs somewhere between 230hp to 350hp.
Tata Motors will launch the Curvv EV during festive season, before Diwali. The next EV from the homegrown passenger vehicle maker is the Harrier EV, which is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2025. The SUV is expected to be launched or showcased in production avatar at the 2nd edition of the Bharat Mobility Show.
The upcoming Tata Harrier EV will sit above the Curvv EV and will come with a larger battery pack. Details about the battery specifications are yet to be revealed, but we expect it to offer an electric range of up to 500km on a single charge. The electric SUV will also come with an AWD (all-wheel-drive) configuration. It will directly rival the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8.
The production-spec Suzuki eVX was scheduled to be revealed in September 2024; however, the debut/launch pushed to early next year - in February. It is most likely to be unveiled at the 2025 Auto Expo. The SUV has been caught testing wearing a production body on the Indian roads. It will be based on the brand's new skateboard platform, which is jointly developed by Suzuki and Toyota.
The architecture will be used to develop a wide range of electric vehicles for India and global markets. The SUV will measure 4.3 meters in length and will have a wheelbase of around 2700mm. It will come with several modern features including ADAS suite. The electric SUV is expected to feature a 60kWh battery pack and a front-axle-mounted electric motor. It is likely to offer a range of up to 500km on a single charge. The SUV will also come with an AWD (all-wheel-drive) setup.
The Czech automaker Skoda has announced plans to launch a new sub-4 meter SUV in India in the first quarter of 2025. The new sub-4 meter SUV is most likely to be unveiled at the 2025 Auto Expo. It will be designed and developed on the modified Volkswagen Group's MQB AO IN platform, which underpins the Kushaq, Slavia, Virtus and Taigun.
The new model will look like a mini Kushaq with some new design elements and a slightly toned down interior. The SUV has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 115bhp and 178Nm of torque. For transmission duties, it will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The Korean automaker Kia is preparing an all-new compact SUV for the Indian market. Rumoured to be called the Kia Syros, the new model will initially be offered with a petrol engine. The electric version is most likely to arrive in the late 2025. It is rumoured to be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos and will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV.
The spy images reveal that the Syros compact SUV will come equipped with several segment-leading features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered driver's seat and an advanced driver assistance system or ADAS tech. Adding to it, the SUV will have a 360-degree camera, TPMS, front parking sensors and rear disc brakes. The SUV is likely to be powered by a 118bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 6MT or a 7-speed DCT.
Not just Syros, Kia India will also introduce the EV9 electric 3-row SUV at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. It is Kia's flagship electric vehicle and is built on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) architecture. The electric SUV is most likely to be launched in the last quarter of this financial year, by March 2025.
In the global markets, the Kia EV9 is available with 3 powertrain options - RWD with a 76.1kWh battery, RWD with 99.8kWh battery, and a dual-motor AWD variant with 99.8kWh battery. The base variant offers a range of 358km, while the 99.8kWh RWD variant delivers a certified range of 541km on a single charge. The AWD variant offers a combined power output of 379bhp and a range of 450km on a single charge.
