India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
The Kia Syros is the upcoming sub-4-metre SUV offering from the South Korean automaker in India. Its final production version is likely to debut in the coming weeks, while its market launch is expected early next year. This subcompact SUV has been on test for a long time, which is why we have witnessed numerous spy images and videos of it.
One thing is confirmed: the Syros will have a boxy and upright stance, unlike any other Kia currently available in India. Dimensionally, the new Syros SUV appears longer than the Sonet. Some media reports suggest that it will offer more cabin space, especially for rear-seat passengers, compared to the Sonet. The tall stance will ensure sufficient headroom for all occupants.
The front end will feature Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, vertically stacked projector headlamps with LED elements, and LED DRLs. Styling elements such as rounded-off windows with a large glass area, four-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails, and flush-style door handles enhance its side profile. The upcoming Kia Syros has L-shaped taillamps mounted on the pillars, bumper-integrated brake lights, and a high-mounted stop lamp at the rear.
The Syros’ interior is likely to share features with the Seltos, including a dual-screen setup comprising a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. It could also include features such as automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, ventilated and powered front seats, leatherette upholstery, a Bose audio system, connected car tech, cruise control, an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and more.
One of its test mules was spotted with a radar module, hinting at the presence of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), a 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors. On the safety front, the higher trims are likely to get six airbags as standard. Features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system, rear disc brakes, and ABS with EBD will also be on offer.
The new Kia Syros subcompact SUV will be offered with multiple powertrain options, including petrol and electric. Initially, the Syros is expected to come with 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines. The electric version is likely to be introduced at a later stage. The Kia Syros EV might share its powertrain with the India-bound Hyundai Inster EV.
