India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
As reported earlier, the Next-Generation Mahindra Bolero is under development and it is believed to be based on a completely new platform. Unlike the current Bolero models, which include pickups, the upcoming Bolero range will offer more choices in terms of body style, powertrain, and seating options.
Mahindra & Mahindra will focus on buyers in smaller cities (tier-2 towns). The upcoming lineup will begin with a five-seat version, expected to be less than 4 meters in length. This SUV will not only replace the outgoing Bolero but also the Bolero Neo.
In addition, the Mahindra Bolero will have a larger three-row version. However, it is unclear whether the 7-seat model will also be under 4 meters like the current model. Similar to the Scorpio N, the homegrown automaker is expected to equip the upcoming SUV with a forward-facing third row for passenger safety and also to achieve a higher Bharat NCAP Crash Test Safety Rating.
Since the vehicle is mainly for buyers in rural areas, Mahindra will introduce a longer XL version, targeting models like the Force Citiline. This XL version is expected to have four front-facing rows of seats which can accommodate nine passengers. Some wheelbase options from the Next-Gen Bolero will also be used in Mahindra's pickup range for cost efficiency and competitive pricing.

In terms of upcoming launches, while the New Bolero will take some time, Mahindra is preparing to launch a significantly updated version of the XUV300 in the coming months. The company is also offering a heavy discount on the outgoing XUV300 to clear its inventory. Moreover, updates for the XUV400 EV are in the works, and the 5-door Thar is also set to debut in 2024.
