Tata Motors has recently introduced the Curvv EV at a starting price of Rs 17.49 lakh. The ICE version of the SUV will go on sale from September 2, 2024. Deliveries of the Tata Curvv EV have already commenced. The SUV Coupe rivals the likes of the Mahindra XUV400 and the MG ZS EV. However, a wide range of new electric SUVs are arriving in our market in the next 1 year.

In this article, we talk about top 4 upcoming mid-sized electric SUVs which will rival the Tata Curvv EV

MG Windsor EV

MG Motor India will launch its new electric utility vehicle, the Windsor EV on September 11, 2024. The new model will be marketed as a crossover utility vehicle (CUV) and will cost under Rs 20 lakh. It will be positioned against the Mahindra XUV400, Tata Curvv EV and others in the category.

It is basically the rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud EV, which is on sale in select international markets. The company has already released multiple teasers that confirms a segment-leading 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, panoramic sunroof and Aero-lounge seats.

In terms of features, the electric CUV will get a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, ambient lighting, twin-spoke steering wheel, cruise control and others. The MG Windsor EV is likely to be offered with two battery packs - 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh - paired with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. While the former is claimed to offer a range of 360km, the later offers 460km on a full charge.

Maruti Suzuki EVX

Maruti Suzuki eVX launch January

Maruti Suzuki will introduce the production version of the eVX electric SUV at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. It will first go on sale in Europe and Japan, followed by an India launch in mid 2025. The new model will mark the debut of Suzuki's new skateboard platform, which will also underpin Toyota's version of this Electric SUV. The SUV will be manufactured at Suzuki's Sanand based manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

It is likely to be offered with two battery pack choices - a 48kWh and a 60kWh. A front-axle-mounted electric motor will come as standard, which sends power to the front wheels. The top-spec model could also receive a dual-motor setup to offer AWD drivetrain. It is likely to offer a range of up to 500km on a single charge.

Hyundai Creta EV

The Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch its first locally developed electric vehicle in our market in January 2025. It is most likely to debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. Production of the Hyundai Creta EV will begin at the end of this year, most probably in December 2024.

The Creta EV will be based on the modified version of the existing K2 platform, which also underpins the ICE model. It will come with some EV-specific changes in the form of closed-off front grille, revised bumpers, connecting lights and aero-optimized alloy wheels. The cabin will look largely identical to the ICE model; however, some of its parts will have similarities with the Ioniq 5. It will come with an electronic parking brake, ADAS Level 2, a drive selector mounted on the steering column, and ventilated & powered front seats.

It is likely to receive the same electric motor that is available in the global-spec Kona EV. This motor will draw power from a 45kWh battery pack and offers 134bhp and 255Nm of torque. It could offer a range of over 400km on a single charge.
