Volkswagen India will launch the high-performance Golf GTI hatchback on May 26, 2025. The car will arrive as a completely built unit (CBU) and will be offered in limited numbers. Pre-bookings are already underway, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in June through select Volkswagen dealerships across the country.
Note: The first batch of 150 units has already been booked, and Volkswagen has currently paused new bookings.
The Golf GTI features a bold and sporty design that stands out with its illuminated Volkswagen logo and GTI badge on the sleek upper grille. It gets Matrix LED headlights and a large honeycomb-patterned air dam, with X-shaped fog lamps that give it an aggressive front look. Along the sides, the red GTI badges and red brake calipers hidden behind 18-inch alloy wheels add to its performance appeal. The rear gets a GTI badge on the tailgate, smoked LED tail-lights, a roof spoiler, and twin chrome exhaust tips for a striking finish.
The hatchback will be available in four colours: Kings Red, Grenadilla Black, Oryx White, and Moonstone Grey.
Inside, the Golf GTI comes with a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel with a GTI clasp and a high-tech dual-screen setup that includes a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver display. Other highlights include wireless charging, ambient lighting, a seven-speaker sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and tartan seat upholstery with red accents that pay homage to the car’s sporty legacy.
Under the hood, the Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 265 horsepower and 370Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
The expected ex-showroom price of the Golf GTI is around Rs 55 lakh, making it the most expensive Volkswagen car in India—costlier even than the Tiguan R Line, which is priced at Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom).
