The upcoming Volkswagen compact SUV has finally broken cover. It was caught recently testing on Indian roads for the first time. This project, which was kept under wraps for a while, has finally come into the spotlight. Initially, it seemed like Skoda would lead the way with its compact SUV. However, the recent sighting of the Volkswagen counterpart suggests otherwise.
While there is no official confirmation yet, the test mule gives us some clues about what to expect.
In a video shared on Instagram by bunnypunia, the SUV can be seen under heavy camouflage. Despite the disguise, we can assume some notable features such as LED taillamps, roof rails, and a high-mounted LED stop lamp. These hints have sparked excitement among fans eager for more details.
Talking about the feature additions, the upcoming vehicle could come equipped with a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, ADAS suite, and rear disc brakes.
While specifications are not out yet, it will likely be under 4 metres in length to qualify for tax benefits in India. Furthermore, Volkswagen's existing 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine, known for its power and efficiency, is a strong contender for inclusion in this model.
The use of the MQB A0 IN platform indicates the German automaker’s commitment to reducing maintenance and servicing costs. This strategic move aligns with the brand’s India 2.0 Strategy, aimed at enhancing competitiveness and customer satisfaction in the Indian market.
As we eagerly await more updates the appearance of the test mule signals a bright future for Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited. Stay tuned for further updates on their exciting journey!
