Volkswagen is all set to launch a new sub-4 meter SUV - the TERA globally on March 2, 2025. The SUV is expected to come to India in 2026. It will be built on the same modified MQB AO IN platform as the Skoda Kylaq. Ahead of its launch, the new Tera SUV has been spotted testing multiple times, giving usa sneak peek of its design and features.
Here are the top details of the Volkswagen Tera SUV in terms of design, powertrain, and features.
The design of VW Tera SUV has been revealed through spy shots. Some of its exterior features include sleek LED headlights, a minimalist front grille, and a robust front bumper with large air dams on either side. Below, the entire area is finished in black, while the side profile features thick cladding, A-pillar-mounted ORVMs, black roof rails, and 10-spoke directional alloy wheels.
At the rear, the Tera showcases wrap-around taillights, an LED light bar across the tailgate, a rear wiper and washer, an integrated spoiler, a number plate holder on the back bumper, and a faux skid plate.
Volkswagen Tera is expected to have a feature-rich interior. Some of its essential features comprise a large touchscreen for infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, ventilated front seats, and rear AC vents.
Other notable features include climate control, ambient lighting, rear wiper & washer, connected car technology, electronic stability control, and more. The India-spec Volkswagen Tera could also get a single-pane sunroof.
Volkswagen Tera SUV is built on the MQB A0 IN platform, the same platform that underpins the Skoda Kylaq, Taigun, Slavia, and Kushaq.
Volkswagen Tera sub-compact SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This is the same unit that powers the Skoda Kylaq.
Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Additionally, the global-spec model may offer a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 84 bhp, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Tera SUV is expected to launch in the Indian market with an estimated price range of Rs 9 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
The SUV will compete with models such as the Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet.
