The Skoda Kodiaq is a high-end mix of luxury performance and practicality. The Kodiaq is proving to be an attractive buy for SUV buyers. There seems to also be a sign that the company is testing the next-generation Kodiaq on Indian roads, which could reach dealer showrooms by 2025 and may receive some design and feature upgrades. This has transformed SUV into a solid product in the Indian SUV market, focusing on two prime virtues: versatility and high-end features.
The Skoda Kodiaq sells at Rs 3999000 (ex-showroom) across India. The Kodiaq is available in two main trims: Style and the higher-end Laurin & Klement. The L&K is full of lavish features, but the Style trim does most of the essentials at a significantly cheaper price than its sister model. In this regard, it is one of the best value-for-money purchases to be had by those seeking a flavour of luxury but shorn of the added premium.
Most Value for Money Variant
The Skoda Kodiaq Style variant is highly valued to be sold at a great price. This value variant offers key features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, all-wheel drive, and panoramic sunroof. Even though it doesn't have a few luxury extras, like heated and ventilated seats with a massage function, like the high-end L&K variant, the Style still gets most of the Skoda luxury and practicality to that car at a lower price and is, therefore, the best value-for-money proposition in the lineup.
The Kodiaq is very well equipped with a wide range of features that are designed to enhance comfort, convenience, and safety. Among the key highlights include that the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes with compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the L&K version, customers get a digital driver's display of 10.25 inches. The comfort features also include ventilated and heated front seats with a massage function, 3-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof that gives customers a perception of luxury inside the cabin.
Take, for example, the Skoda Kodiaq with its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This manages to deliver respectable mileage at a rate of about 13.32 km/l. However, the absence of a diesel variant will be to the disadvantage of buyers who would go by nothing else than a penchant for fuel economy, especially compared to diesel competitors like Toyota Fortuner.
The Skoda Kodiaq also comes with a long list of safety features. Such features include nine airbags, allowing all passengers to be fully assured of protection. Others include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), 360-degree camera for better parking, Hill Hold Control, and Hill Descent Control are especially useful on slopes or hilly terrain. The Traction Control and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System are also notable, all adding up to an impressive MODEL safety profile.
Colorwise, the Skoda Kodiaq boasts five appealing colours: Lava Blue Metallic, Magic Black Metallic, Moon White Metallic, and Graphite Grey Metallic. The Style is only available in Moon White Metallic but other colors for both styles combine graceful outlooks with sporty impressions.
The Skoda Kodiaq comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which delivers 187.40bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque. Equipped alongside a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission is Tiptronic's manual gear-changing ability. The 4x4 all-wheel drive system gives the SUV the flexibility needed to navigate various types of roads-from city streets to lighter off-road trails-with greater ease. With the powerful engine paired with a smooth transmission, this means a poised ride.
The Skoda Kodiaq comes with 270-litre boot space. That is why the MODEL is excellent concerning family road trips or big loads carrying. The dimensions of the Kodiaq include 4699 mm in length, 1882 mm in width, 1665 mm in height, and 2791 mm in the wheelbase. Although the ground clearance of 140 mm is inferior to some of its competitors, the SUV was able to cope with most of the terrain quite competently.
Skoda Kodiaq does share its space in the Indian market with many premium SUVs. These include Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian. While the Toyota Fortuner has been one of the popular rivals against the Skoda, apart from having a petrol-engine choice, this latter also comes with the option of a diesel engine for those who intend to get better mileage. There's the MG Gloster, offering a higher level of advanced features such as Level 1 autonomous driving capabilities, while the Jeep Meridian gives off-road capability but luxury. Though the MODEL boasts a premium cabin, the MODEL is famous for its strong performance as well as robust safety features in the face of great competition.
