Mercedes-Benz has released the first official teasers for the upcoming GLC SUV in India. The pictures show a lightly camouflaged car testing on Indian roads. The GLC is one of Mercedes’ best-selling models in India and the new model is expected to be even more popular.
The new Mercedes Benz GLC will feature cosmetic changes since it is a mid-life facelift. In the teasers, we get to see new angular LED headlights with DRLs, a wider grille and a sportier front bumper. The side profile stays similar to the outgoing model but gets all-new alloy wheels and updated ORVMs. At the rear, the SUV gets sleek new LED taillights, full-width LED lightbar, and a reprofiled rear bumper.
Mercedes Benz is also expected to overhaul the interiors of the GLC. Instead of the dual-screen setup, the SUV will now get a 11.9-inch tablet-style infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other feature highlights include connected car tech, 360-degree camera, multi-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, premium audio setup by Burmester, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, and more.
Globally, the new Mercedes Benz GLC is offered with three ICE powertrain options. In India, the automaker will likely offer a diesel and a petrol engine option, both with mild-hybrid tech. The former is a 2.0-litre turbodiesel motor that makes 194 bhp with 400 Nm of peak torque. While the petrol is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit is rated for maximum power output of 200 bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm. Both engines come mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Mercedes is expected to launch the new GLC in India around the festive season. It will receive a slight price hike over the outgoing model’s range of Rs 62 - Rs 68 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upon launch, the Mercedes GLC will rival the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and the Volvo XC60.
Tata Sierra will be the next model to come with petrol, diesel and electric powertrain options - launch scheduled in the second half of 2025.
