The French automaker, Renault is preparing to launch multiple new cars and SUVs in the Indian market. The company plans to introduce 5 new cars including the third-gen Duster and Bigster 7-seater SUV in 2026. Adding to it, the Kiger and Triber will receive a major makeover before the end of this financial year.
Renault is also considering entering EV segment in India. The company was planning to introduce the Kwid EV; however, nothing has been finalized on the same. It is expected that Renault could introduce an electric SUV in the price bracket of Rs 17 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
Renault has already confirmed that the new-gen Duster SUV will be launched in India in the first half of 2026. It will be based on the Renault-Nissan alliance's CMF-B modular platform, which will also underpin a new 7-seater SUV. The 7-seater SUV will be based on the Dacia Bigster SUV on sale in the European markets. It will be launched before the end of 2026.
The new-gen Duster will be offered with a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 151bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The same powertrain will also power the Bigster 7-seater SUV. Renault is also considering hybrid engines for the new SUVs.
Both likely to get a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine coupled to a 49bhp electric motor, a high voltage starter generator, and a 1.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The combined power output stands at 140bhp.
Renault will give significant makeover to its entry-level products including the Kiger and Triber MPV. The new Renault Kiger has already been caught testing on the Indian roads. It will retain the original silhouette, but significant design changes will be made. The SUV is expected to receive a newly styled front fascia with a revised grille and split-headlamp setup. It could get revised C-shaped tail-lights, new alloy wheels and new bumpers.
The cabin is likely to receive significant changes in the form of revised dashboard layout, new touchscreen infotainment unit, new upholstery for seats, a digital driver's display and many more. The small SUV is likely to retain the existing engine options including a 1.0L 3-cylinder NA petrol and a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol.
The new Renault Triber is also expected to receive few design tweaks; however, major changes are expected inside the cabin. It is likely to get a new dashboard layout with a bigger touchscreen unit, a new digital driver's display, automatic AC, new upholstery and many more. The existing model is available with a 1.0L 3-cylinder NA petrol engine. Renault could add the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine in top-spec variants of the Triber.
Renault was planning to launch a heavily localized version of the Dacia Spring EV (Kwid EV), which is based on the CMF-A platform. However, media reports suggest that the company could introduce an electric SUV in the country. A Duster-sized EV can't be ruled out.
