Continuing its tradition of launching special edition models, BMW has launched the 8th 50-year anniversary model in India. Now available on the M5 Competition, the car gets subtle cosmetic updates to differentiate it from the standard model. Here is everything to know.
On the outside, the new BMW model features an exclusive BMW Individual paint called the Aventurine Red, that lends it a striking look. The front end gets the new BMW Individual lights Shadowline treatment that adds a dark-tinted accent to the BMW Laserlight and the L-shaped light tubes connecting towards the kidney grille. The car also sports the iconic 50-year Jahre M emblem along with red high-gloss M-Compound brake calliper and new 20-inch alloy wheels. Black styling highlights all over the exterior add to the elite status of the car.

Coming to the inside, the BMW M5 Competition ’50 Jahre M Edition’ features bespoke Merino leather upholstery. The cabin is finished in Argon Brown while the headliner gets anthracite finish giving the car a more luxurious feel. M multifunction seats with integral head restraints, an illuminated ‘M5’ logo and extended functions come as standard. Exclusive functions such as M Seat belts, M footrest and pedals, M Leather Steering Wheel, seat heating (driver and front passenger), electrical seat adjustment with memory function, automatic tailgate add to the comfort of the occupants. Other highlights of the cabin include large Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) sunroof, ambient lighting with six dimmable light designs, 4 zone A/C and soft close for the doors.

In terms of powertrain, the M5 Competition comes powered by BMW’s high-performance 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine producing 625 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. The system comes mated to an 8-speed M-Steptronic transmission and can complete the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 3.3 seconds.
