BYD Sealion 7 made its entry into India as the brand’s fourth electric offering, available in two variants – Premium and Performance. Both variants are packed with an 82.56kWh LFP low-voltage battery, delivering a WLTP-claimed range of 482km and 456km, respectively. The Premium variant delivers a maximum power of 313 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, while the Performance trim generates a massive power of 530 bhp and 690 Nm of torque. The latter one is claimed to do 0 to 100kmph in 4.5 seconds.
The Sealion 7 Premium variant comes with a price tag of Rs 48.9 lakh, while the higher-spec Performance variant is available at Rs 54.9 lakh. At this price point, it takes on the Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW iX1, Kia EV6 and Volvo EX40.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is relatively more affordable than the Sealion 7. It’s available in a single variant, priced at Rs 46.05 lakh. The Sealion 7’s Premium variant is nearly Rs 3 lakh more expensive and the Performance AWD variant is around Rs 9 lakh pricier than the Ioniq 5. Hyundai’s electric SUV comes with a 72.6kWh battery pack and RWD setup, delivering a claimed power of 217 PS and 350 Nm of torque. It promises an electric range of 631km.
Prices of the BMW iX1 LWB are nearly the same as the base variant of the Sealion 7. While the former costs Rs 49 lakh the Sealion 7’s Premium trim is available at Rs 48.90 lakh. BMW’s latest electric offering – iX1 LWD – comes with a 66.4kWh battery pack and returns a claimed range of 440km.
The Volvo EX40 comes in two variants – Plus and Ultimate – priced at Rs 56.10 lakh and Rs 57.90 lakh, respectively. The top-end Performance variant of the BYD Sealion 7 is more affordable than Volvo’s both variants. Its Premium variant with RWD setup is nearly Rs 7.2 lakh less expensive than the EX40’s Plus trim. The AWD variants of both EVs have a price gap of around Rs 3 lakh.
The Kia EV6 is the most expensive offering in this segment. This electric SUV is offered in GT Line and GT Line AWD variants, priced at Rs 60.97 lakh and Rs 65.97 lakh, respectively. The price gap between the BYD Sealion 7 Performance and Kia EV6 GT Line is significant – Rs 11 lakh. The Kia EV6 features a 77.4kWH battery with RWD system, and offers a claimed range of up to 708km. Its power and torque outputs stand at 229 PS and 350 Nm, respectively.
