Citroen has scheduled the launch of C3 in India for 20th July; Bookings for the SUV will commence from 1st July; Will rival the Tata Punch once introduced
After months of speculation and testing, Citroen has finally confirmed the launch of its second product for India in the form of the C3 hatchback. The French marque believes that this new mass-market model will help enhance its presence in the market. It is worth noting that the C3 is the first product under the brand’s C-Cubed Programme, which will also underpin a couple of its upcoming products.
The Citroen C3 was revealed globally in September 2021 and now we have concrete information about the hatchback’s specifications and launch date. The four-wheeler will be introduced to the world on the 20th of July 2022 with bookings commencing from the 1st of July 2022. The vehicle will be manufactured at Citroen’s CK Birla facility in Thiruvallur near Chennai.
A new set of information coming out from the company has confirmed that the hatchback will be available with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine producing a power output of 110 bhp and peak torque of 190 Nm and a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol motor sufficient for 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. The former will be offered only on the higher trim levels mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the latter will have to settle with a 5-speed unit. Trying to keep cost in check, the brand has decided to skip offering an automatic transmission with the vehicle. According to Citroen, both powertrains will offer similar mileage figures of 19.8 kmpl and 19.4 kmpl.
The C3 will be offered in three trim levels, namely Vibe, Energy and Elegance. As far as features are concerned, the hatchback will come equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, USB charging ports, a flat-bottom steering wheel, auto climate control and more.
A visually large car, the C3 measures 3981mm in length, 1733mm in width and 1586mm in height. It has a class leading ground clearance of 180mm.
It will come in 4 distinctive colour options namely Zesty Orange, Platinum Grey, Steel Grey, Polar White, while the Zesty Orange with Black roof and Polar White with Zesty Orange roof are the 2 dual-tone colour schemes on offer. In addition, the four-wheeler can be customized with 3 different pre-designed packs.
The next-gen Tata Nexon is likely to be based on the heavily modified X1 platform, to get significant design and interior changes.
