While Kia is yet to confirm the launch of the Fourth-Generation Carnival in India, latest spy shots show the automaker has already started testing the facelift in South Korea. The updated MPV will be getting a refreshed design and a new strong-hybrid powertrain option added to its lineup. We take a closer look.
As you can see in the spy shots, the Carnival Facelift features a new, vertically stacked headlight design that is similar to the ones seen on the recently unveiled Kia EV9 electric SUV. The bonnet has been redesigned with more prominent cuts and creases while the LED DRLs also get an updated layout. Moving to the side, the silhouette of the facelifted MPV looks largely similar to the current model. Towards the rear, the new Carnival features an inverted L-shaped LED tail light design like the ones seen on the Seltos Facelift.
While the manufacturer has not revealed any powertrain details yet, it is expected that the Carnival Facelift will be getting a strong-hybrid engine. It will come with a 1.6-litre petrol unit paired with an electric motor, though output figures are unknown at the moment. Currently, the Carnival is offered with a 2.2-litre turbo diesel motor that makes 198 bhp with 440 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The facelifted Carnival is slated to be revealed globally around January 2024. Kia had recently showcased the current fourth-gen Carnival as the KA4 MPV in India during the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. While this model is coming to India by the end of the year, it is yet to be confirmed if Kia will introduce the facelifted Carnival in the country. Expect the KA4 to be priced around Rs 50 lakh upon launch. In India, it will rival the recently launched Toyota Innova Hycross.
