New Car Buying Platform
Recently, Honda Motor Company has filed a patent application with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). The patent outlines plans for an additional storage solution embedded within the bumpers of electric vehicles (EVs). This hidden compartment aims to provide additional storage space for EV owners.
The patent also describes a pull-out drawer which will be located within the rear bumper of an electric vehicle. According to reports, this storage area is intended for a future scenario where vehicles can serve as designated delivery locations. In addition, storing a package in this compartment offers greater security than leaving it on a residence's front porch.
Furthermore, a third party can access the compartment while keeping the rest of the vehicle inaccessible. The storage in the bumper will feature its own locking/unlocking system, distinct from the car's doors and trunk. Additionally, the storage area will have its own air conditioning, ensuring packages can be safely stored even on hot days.
As with any patent application, it is yet to be determined whether Honda will indeed proceed with bringing the idea to fruition in production.
