Hyundai Motor India plans to tap into the growing EV and SUV segments while updating its existing offerings, including the Venue subcompact SUV and Grand i10 Nios hatchback. The Hyundai Creta EV is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated new car launches of next year, marking the OEM's first mass-market EV offering. The electric SUV will make its first public appearance in January 2025, followed by its market launch. Once launched, it will go head-to-head against the newly launched Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX.
Specifications of the Creta EV are still under wraps. However, it’s reported to come with a 45kWh battery pack and a 138bhp electric motor. The range could be around 350km or slightly higher. Its upcoming archrival – Maruti Suzuki eVX – is expected to come with a larger 60kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 550km on a single charge. The Tata Curvv EV offers two battery packs – 45kWh and 55kWh – promising ranges of 502km and 585km, respectively.
Featuring a few EV-specific elements, the Hyundai Creta EV will look slightly different from its ICE counterpart. Inside, the electric SUV will have ‘CRETA Electric’ embossing on the seat upholstery and a new circular 3-spoke steering wheel, as revealed by spy images. Its interior layout and features will be similar to the regular Creta.
The Hyundai Inster EV will be a competitor to the Tata Punch EV, which currently dominates the segment. The compact electric SUV is likely to come with Standard 42kWh and Long-Range 49kWh battery packs, delivering a WLTP-claimed range of 300km and 355km, respectively. The Inster EV will offer several features, including a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, ADAS tech, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, and more.
Hyundai is also considering to challenge the Tata Tiago EV and Tata Nexon EV with the electric iterations of the Grand i10 Nios and Venue, respectively.
