Toyota has officially revealed the 2025 Land Cruiser Prado for global markets, and this time, it comes equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The new MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle) setup is paired with the existing 2.8-litre diesel engine to improve drivability and overall performance. While this updated SUV is already on sale in various international markets, it is expected to arrive in India later this year.
The 2025 Land Cruiser Prado features a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. With the addition of the 48V mild-hybrid system, Toyota claims the powertrain is now more refined and responsive. The updated engine continues to deliver 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque, offering strong low-end pull and highway performance.
This move to hybrid tech is part of Toyota’s broader electrification strategy, and the company has confirmed that all European Land Cruiser models will now come with the MHEV system.
On the outside, the Land Cruiser Prado maintains its rugged SUV appeal. It carries over key design features such as the heritage-inspired "TOYOTA" grille, boxy headlamps, and flared fenders. The SUV also features square side mirrors, a muscular bonnet, and a skid plate-integrated bumper with fog lamps.
Buyers can choose from eight exterior colour options, including unique dual-tone shades like Trail Dust/Grayscape and Heritage Blue/Grayscape, along with solid colours such as Black, Ice Cap, Meteor Shower, and Underground.
Inside, the 2025 Land Cruiser Prado comes loaded with features to suit both off-road adventurers and comfort-focused buyers. Highlights include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heated and ventilated front seats, and a head-up display (HUD).
Other practical features include a 60/40 split rear seat, console cool box, Qi wireless phone charging, and multiple USB charging ports, making it a well-equipped SUV for long journeys and family road trips.
Although Toyota has not officially announced a launch date for India, the 2025 Land Cruiser Prado has already been spotted testing on Indian roads earlier this year. Industry sources suggest that the SUV could make its way to the Indian market in the second half of 2025. When it arrives, it will likely compete in the premium full-size SUV segment alongside models like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Land Rover Defender.
