In new rumpus emerging in the market, KIA car India is expected to showcase two upcoming SUV/MPV models at the Auto Expo 2023. The company will showcase the facelifted version of the Seltos, that has been recently spied on Indian roads along with the most awaited new-generation model of the Carnival at the biennial event. Globally introduced in the middle of 2020, the fourth-generation model of the KIA Carnival features stark differences to the current, thor-generation model that is on sale in the country. From the outset the new model is expected to feature major styling updates along with an updated feature list that is believed to include ADAS.
A quick look at the new KIA Carnival Facelift and the differences will be apparent. Based on a new Hyundai-KIA N3 mid-size platform, the upcoming MPV model’s length is said to grow by 40 mm while the wheelbase extended by 30 mm for an overall spacious cabin. Despite the new platform, the new Carnival will retain its overall silhouette but feature larger glass areas all around. Globally the front end of the new MPV is characterised by the new ‘Tiger Nose Grill’, which is flanked by completely new LED headlamp units. New additions to the exterior include a new alloy-wheel design, integrated side-step and a completely redesigned tail-gate.
Moving to the inside, the new cabin will feature a brand new layout similar to the one seen on the KIA Seltos. New equipment includes an all-new 10-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Ventilated seats for both the front and middle rows, 360-degree camera and head-up display.
Despite going through a major facelift, the new-gen Carnival is expected to use the same 2.2L-litre turbo-diesel engine that will now be rated for a maximum power output of 200 bhp and peak torque of 440 Nm. However, there will be no changes to the transmission option with the 8-speed automatic continuing to do its duty. Taking safety to the next level, the Carnival facelift is likely to offer better safety options and technology including ADAS functions like blind spot assist, surround view monitor, lane keeping assist, high beam assist, and forward collision avoidance assist.
KIA India is expected to offer the upcoming Carnival model in two trim level options- Premium and Limousine. The starting price of the KIA Carnival Facelift is expected to start from around Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). On launch the KIA Carnival facelift will have a direct competitor in the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross in the market.
