Made in India Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has achieved 3 Star Safety Rating in Global NCAP Crash-Test; Tested under the #SaferCarsforAfrica program, the model is similar to the one sold in India.
Global New Car Assessment Program (GNCAP) recently crash-tested the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso under its Safer Cars for Africa Program. The model tested is manufactured in India and exported to the South African market. This updated car is identical to the one sold in our country. After a poor showing the first time (2020), the small car has managed to score an overall 3-Star Safety Rating in the crash test. However, the previously tested model came only with a driver-side airbag and lacked passive safety features.
According to the crash testing agencies website, the four-wheeler scored a satisfactory 3 stars for Adult Occupant Protection and 2 stars for Child Occupant Protection. Compared to the previously tested model, the updated S-Presso comes equipped with 2 front airbags and front seat belt pretensioners as standard. While the body shell integrity was rated as unstable, the result suggests that the car provides good protection to the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck. Protection to the driver’s chest and knee was a weak link, while the protection for the passenger’s chest and knee was deemed adequate.
In terms of Child Occupancy Protection , the hatchback was not able to prevent excessive head excursion during the impact, offering poor protection to the head and the chest.
