The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) has become an increasingly popular feature among car buyers for several reasons, including enhanced safety, convenience, and regulatory push. OEMs such as Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata, Kia, MG, Honda, Toyota, Skoda, and Volkswagen are already offering these advanced safety features in multiple products. India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, will soon join the bandwagon with the launch of the e-Vitara electric SUV. The model is set to make its public debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in January. However, its price announcement will be made in March 2025.
The Suzuki e-Vitara, which recently made its global debut, features ADAS technology offering functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, a 360-degree camera, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and a blind spot monitoring system. The India-spec Maruti e-Vitara might also come equipped with the same safety suite. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
What further fuels the rumor of an ADAS-equipped Maruti Suzuki vehicle is the recent sighting of the Maruti Fronx with an ADAS sensor fitted on the front grille. It could potentially be the second Maruti Suzuki model to come with ADAS technology.
Talking about Maruti Suzuki’s 2025 product plans, the Indo-Japanese automaker has outlined three major models, including the e-Vitara electric midsize SUV, an updated Fronx with its own strong hybrid powertrain, and a 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara. The Maruti e-Vitara will be the first electric offering from the brand and will feature 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs, benefiting from BYD’s Blade technology. In its high-spec version, the SUV will deliver a maximum power output of 184bhp and 300Nm of torque.
The 2025 Maruti Fronx facelift will mark the debut of the brand’s new strong hybrid powertrain, featuring the Z12E petrol engine borrowed from the Swift hatchback. Reports suggest that the Fronx hybrid will promise a fuel efficiency of over 30kmpl. The upcoming Maruti 7-seater SUV will share its platform, powertrain, design elements, features, and components with the Grand Vitara. However, it will be longer and more spacious than its donor sibling.
