Mercedes-Benz showcased the new CLA Concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January. First debuted in 2023, the Concept CLA will soon enter the production avatar. It has been confirmed that the all-new third-gen Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan will make its global debut in March 2025.
The new-gen Mercedes-Benz CLA will debut the brand's new modular MMA platform, which will underpin future Mercedes models. The company has confirmed that this platform is versatile enough to accommodate different body styles and powertrains including electric and internal combustion engines. Moreover, the new Mercedes CLA will also be offered with both ICE and electric powertrains.
Mercedes-Benz has also released some camouflaged images of the sedan, which shows that the final production-spec CLA will look largely identical to the Concept CLA. The compact sedan will have a four-door coupe-inspired look with flowing lines and a sloping roofline. Similar to the concept, the new Mercedes CLA will have a three-point star lighting element within the main element.
The third-gen Mercedes-Benz CLA will mark the debut of a new in-house developed Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). The new AI-powered MB.OS is a "chip-to-cloud software operating system which covers infotainment, automated driving, comfort as well as driving & charging." The new operating system is loaded with an AI-enabled virtual assistant along with a power on-board super-computer and a fully integrated tech stack. Mercedes claims that the new MB.OS will make the third-gen CLA sedan LEVEL 2++ ADAS compatible.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA will come with both internal combustion and all-electric drive systems. The CLA electric will feature an 800-volt architecture with compatibility of up to 320 kW DC fast charging. It will be a rear-wheel drive sedan with a primary drive motor delivering up to 268bhp. The sedan comes with an integrated two-speed transmission. The 4WD version will have an additional 107bhp motor placed on the front axle. The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV will have a range of over 750km on a single charge.
The sedan will be offered with two battery packs - a 58 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and an 85 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery. An AMG derivative of the new Mercedes CLA EV will also be introduced with over 535bhp peak power.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan will be powered by an all-new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a mild-hybrid setup. This ICE unit will come with multiple states of tune - 134 bhp, 161 bhp and 188 bhp. A front-wheel-drive layout will be offered as standard, while the 4Matic all-wheel drive will come as an option. The engine will be paired to an all-new electrified 8-speed DCT gearbox featuring an integrated electric motor that adds up to 27 bhp for limited periods.
