Tesla is getting closer to entering the Indian market, and the latest sign is the 2025 Model Y facelift being spotted on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Codenamed, Juniper, the electric SUV was seen covered in camouflage, hinting that Tesla is testing the updated version before launch.
The company has already started the homologation process for the Model Y and Model 3 in India, which means these could be the first Tesla cars to go on sale.
While Tesla is still working on its India entry plan and seeking tariff relief, the sighting of the facelifted Model Y suggests it will be launched in its latest version, likely through the brand’s first dealership in Mumbai.

The 2025 Tesla Model Y facelift to get some exciting updates to its design and features. Although the test car is covered in camouflage, the new front and rear lighting designs clearly show that it’s a refreshed model.
One of the biggest changes is the new split headlamp design, along with full-width LED light signatures at the front and rear. This update not only looks sleek but also improves the car's aerodynamics, making it more efficient.
Inside, the Model Y keeps its clean, simple design with a large 15.4-inch central touchscreen that controls most features. Rear passengers also get their own 8.0-inch touchscreen for added convenience.
The Tesla Model Y is offered in two distinct variants: Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long-Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD). Both models deliver impressive performance and range, making them ideal choices for electric vehicle enthusiasts.
The RWD variant of the Tesla Model Y boasts an impressive claimed range of 719km on a single charge, according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). On the other hand, the Long-Range AWD model offers a slightly lower range of 662km, also based on CLTC testing, ensuring that both variants are suitable for long drives and daily commutes.
When it comes to acceleration, the Tesla Model Y AWD variant offers a 0-100 kmph sprint time of just 4.3 seconds. Meanwhile, the RWD variant takes a slightly longer 5.9 seconds to reach the same speed, still offering solid acceleration for an electric vehicle.
