Tata's most iconic car, the Sierra SUV is finally coming back to the market which was removed from the brand's portfolio in 2003. Earlier, it was available with a diesel engine, however, this time it will be offered with petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains, similar to the Tata Curvv SUV. It is highly expected to be launched in the second half of 2025. However, speculations suggest that the production-spec Sierra could also be showcased at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025.

Tata Sierra was India's first SUV, which was launched in 1991 with a diesel engine. The SUV remained on sale for about 12 years and then was discontinued in 2003 due to insufficient sales.
The excitement was aroused when Tata Motors showcased the Sierra EV concept at the Auto Expo in 2023. Later, the production-ready avatar was spotted, which looked very similar to the concept version.
From the design perspective, the Sierra SUV will have a blend of heritage and modernity. The old 3-door SUV will now be available as a 5-door SUV. Its front fascia will have a connected LED DRL strip. Other design features will include large alpine windows, flush-type door handles, squarish wheel arches, black thick cladding, and newly designed alloy wheels.
The interior of the 2025 Sierra SUV will be inspired by Tata Safari and Tata Harrier SUVs. In terms of features, the new Sierra will offer a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a wireless smartphone charger.
The new safety pack for the new Sierra will also be loaded with multiple features. These will include an electronic parking brake, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, multiple airbags, and an ADAS suite.
Tata Sierra will be available in both ICE and EV variants. The ICE version will include Tata's new 1.5 Hyperion turbo engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine.
The former can produce a maximum power of 123 bhp and 225 Nm of torque while the latter can deliver 168 bhp with 350 Nm.
Meanwhile, its electric iteration will get two battery units with a single and dual motor setup, offering a maximum range of 500 km.
Tata Sierra ICE variants will be based on the all-new Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture (ATLAS) while the Sierra EV will be underpinned by Acti.ev platform, made especially for electric cars.
Tata Motors will launch the Sierra model strategically. For instance, the Sierra EV will arrive first, in late 2025. while its ICE models could come in 2026. As for the pricing, the Sierra EV is expected to be priced around Rs. 25-30 lakh and Rs. 15-20 lakh for the ICE models.
