Indian auto giant Tata Motors has a busy festive period coming up with a slew of new launches. The brand will start by unveiling the new 2023 Nexon and Nexon EV facelift on September 14. Now, the latest reports suggest that Tata will follow that with the launch of the new Punch EV, sometime during October. We take a closer look.
The new 2023 Tata Punch EV will become the first electric model from Tata to get a front-mounted charging port on the bumper. In terms of design, it will look similar to its ICE-powered sibling but come with the usual Tata EV-specific cosmetic changes and new alloy wheels. The new Punch EV will also likely come with the new .ev badging and may get disc brakes all around.
Moving inside, the 2023 Punch EV will get a few cosmetic changes as well. It is likely to get a new twin-spoke steering wheel similar to the one on the Nexon facelift and may also get the new 10.25-inch infotainment system.
Tata will offer the Punch EV with its Ziptron powertrain. While details are yet to be revealed, the electric Micro-SUV will likely be offered with two battery pack sizes and charging options. It will power a single front-axle-mounted electric motor. Expect it to make around 75 bhp with 115 Nm of peak torque, similar to the Tiago.ev.
The 2023 Tata Punch EV will directly rival the recently launched Citroen eC3, which is priced at Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 12.43 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect Tata Cars to price the Punch around the same region, which will sit between the Nexon EV and Tigor EV in the brand’s lineup.
