• Mostly cosmetic changes to the exterior • Interior to get a larger infotainment system • To get ADAS tech
Tata’s flagship SUV, the Safari, is due for an update in 2023. Recently, it has been spotted again wearing camouflage. The SUV has been doing good sales numbers since its launch last year. However, the arrival of the Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N means increased competition in the 7-seater SUV segment. And both models offer a more extensive feature list than the Safari. To tackle that, Tata will be showcasing the Safari Facelift at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023.
The upcoming Tata Safari Facelift will be getting slight changes on the exterior to differentiate it from the current model. While most changes are currently not visible due to the heavy camouflage on the test mule, it will likely get a new front grille and redesigned headlights. The spy shots also reveal a radar module located on the front bumper for ADAS functionality.
Tata Motors will be adding a host of new features to the interior of the Safari Facelift. The SUV will get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with inbuilt Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an updated instrument console, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and more. The premium SUV will also come with ADAS tech like Blind-Spot Monitoring, Lane-Keep Assist, Emergency Auto Braking, and Rear Traffic Alerts.
2023 Safari Facelift will be offered with the existing 2-litre powertrain. The turbodiesel unit churns out 170 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices will also remain the same, a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Expect prices for the Tata Safari Facelift to be higher than the outgoing model. The current Safari is priced between Rs 15.45 lakh for the base XE trim to Rs 23.76 lakh for the XZA Plus Gold 6 Str AT top variant.
Upon launch, the 2023 Tata Safari Facelift will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV700 and the Scorpio N in the Indian market.
