Tesla is setting up its first showroom in India and is expected to start sales in the third quarter of 2025. The brand has secured a 4,003-sq.ft showroom space in Maker Maxity, Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The company has yet to confirm which model they will initially import, so it is expected by many that Model Y could be the first one to have its launch in India.
It has been expected by many reports that Tesla could launch the Model Y, which will cost around Rs 60-70 lakhs (ex-showroom). This launch is likely to take place around the festive season of 2025's second half. Upon its launch, the car will compete with brands Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi in the luxury EV segment in India.
Apart from this model, the brand could bring the Model 3 as well, which will be priced at Rs 35-40 lakhs (ex-showroom) and positioned with Tata and Mahindra in the premium EV segment.
As there is no immediate local manufacturing, the company will be importing all of its products, which will further increase the costs. Along with the current EV import duties being over 100%, the brand will compete with strong presence brands like Audi, Volvo, and others.
