At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Toyota unveiled two different versions of the popular Hilux pickup: Hilux Black Edition and Hilux FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) Concept. The two versions reflect how Toyota has recently added new versions to the range of Hilux models as innovative, practical, stylish, performance-driven, and environment-friendly vehicles.
Hilux FCEV is an electric version of the popular pickup truck. It has its usual design, with some changes showing compared to Hilux. A little different, this one comes in the part of the front-end, while the "FCEV" logo is added to the driver's door and the under rear badge for the model FCEV. The model rear motor powers up the rear wheel. The selectable regenerative braking options are added inside for one-pedal driving mode in FCEV model. The pickup comes with such off-road-friendly designs as BF Goodrich tires, a gloss black grille, and underbody protection to tame even the most hostile terrains.
Toyota Hilux Black Edition comes out pretty aggressive while sporting an all-black external theme with an athletic look. All grilles, alloy wheels, door handles, and side steps are all painted black, except the chrome rear bumper. Beyond these changes, everything else of this design remains like the usual Hilux with projector LED headlights and LED tail lights. Black Edition remains largely a cabin-finished product but with some subtle blackened pieces such as its 8-inch touchscreen display. An analogue dial instrument cluster dual-zone auto air conditioning powered driver's seat 7 airbags with the rest including parking sensors, all standard of safety.
The Black Edition model comes with a 2.8-litre diesel unit. The same engine churns out 204 PS and 420 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, whereas it delivers 204 PS and 500 Nm with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is also offered with four-wheel-drive (4WD) system to provide an off-road performance boost.
