Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has registered significant growth in 2024, with prominent increases in monthly sales figures and strong performances from key models, including the Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Fortuner. The highest monthly sales figure of 30,845 units was recorded in October (festive season), reflecting a 41 percent growth compared to October 2023. In the months of April, June, September, and November, the Japanese automaker posted sales of 20,494 units, 27,474 units, 26,847 units, and 25,586 units, respectively. TKM’s average monthly sales this year are nearly 25,000 units.
These impressive sales figures are driven by TKM’s strong product strategy and robust market demand. The joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation has also worked in its favor. In FY2025, Toyota achieved the 3 lakh annual sales milestone and is optimistic about maintaining robust growth in the next fiscal year. The carmaker relies on its customer-centric approach, strong SUV and MPV model lineup, and future investments.
The Japanese automaker will kick-start 2025 with the unveiling of its upcoming products at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January. The automobile event is set to be held from 17th to 22nd January in New Delhi. Toyota’s display range is likely to include the Urban Cruiser EV along with some of its global models. The electric SUV will be a major attraction at Toyota’s pavilion, which recently had its world premiere.
Similar to the Maruti e-Vitara, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will come with 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options. Both batteries will feature BYD’s Blade technology and will include a single electric motor as standard. The 49kWh battery version delivers 144bhp and 189Nm of torque, while the larger 61kWh battery model offers 174bhp and 189Nm of torque. The dual motor and AWD combo will be exclusively available with the 61kWh battery variant. This powertrain setup delivers a peak power of 184bhp and 300Nm of torque.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will also make its way to India in 2025. This SUV is expected to come with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine, which is also used in the Fortuner. The engine could benefit from a 48V mild-hybrid system. The new-generation Toyota Fortuner SUV might also be part of the brand’s new product lineup for 2025. The fully-fledged SUV is likely to receive major upgrades in terms of design, features, and powertrain.
The new-gen Suzuki Swift Sport will come with a more powerful and efficient 1.4L in-line 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a mild hybrid system - debut sometime in 2026
