BMW India has just expanded the X3 SUV’s lineup with the introduction of two new diesel variants - xDrive 20d xLine and the xDrive 20d M Sport. The new xLine trim joins alongside the M Sport variant which was launched a couple of weeks ago. Speaking on the occasion of the launch, President of BMW Group India Vikram Pawan stated, “The BMW X3 has been a trailblazing success in the premium mid-size SAV segment. Now available in xLine and M Sport trims, these versatile BMW X3 diesel models deliver exhilarating performance and efficiency in a rugged utility vehicle. With exquisite feel of the interiors along with innovative technologies, the BMW X3 is ready to serve you an experience that’s nothing like you’ve felt before. The X3 packs in unlimited action wherever you go."
New BMW X3 diesel trims look fairly similar to its petrol counterpart in terms of design. You will notice the SUV’s instantly recognisable design features like the signature front kidney grille, Adaptive LED headlights and DRLs, aluminum-finished roof rails, 19-inch alloy wheels, and LED tail lights. BMW India is offering 4 new colours with these new variants which include Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Black Sapphire.
The X3 xDrive 20d M Sport additionally gets the M Sport package that features the M badging on the front quarter panels, M model inscription on the door sills, and exhausts finished in gloss chrome. The M Sport also provides larger air intakes on the front apron that are finished in gloss black while the air curtains are more pronounced. Other notable changes include the lighter 19-inch Y-spoke M alloy wheels and a high gloss black finish for the kidney grille, roof rails, and window graphics.
The diesel variants interior can be specced in either a Black and Cognac or Canberra and Beige theme. In terms of features, the SUV provides dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, Heads-Up Display, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, tri-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon 16-speaker audio system, a 360-degree camera, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, and more. The M Sport trim further gets added equipment like a M leather steering wheel, M interior trim, Sensatec perforated leather upholstery, and sport seats.
Both BMW X3 xDrive 20d xLine and xDrive 20d M Sport are powered by a 2-litre, four-pot turbo diesel engine that delivers a power output of 190 bhp with 400 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive AWD system.
The BMW X3 xDrive 20d xLine is priced at Rs 67.50 lakh (ex-showroom) while the xDrive 20d M Sport costs Rs 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The X3 rivals the likes of the Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, and the Jeep Wrangler in India.
