The Indian automotive market is gearing up for an exciting month with four major car launches in May 2025. From electric upgrades to performance-focused imports and feature-packed facelifts, manufacturers are targeting a broad range of buyers with these upcoming cars.
If you're planning to buy a new car soon, May 2025 car launches have something in store for everyone.
Here’s a closer look at the top cars launching in India this month:
Kicking off the month is the MG Windsor EV Pro, set to launch on May 6, 2025. This upgraded version of the Windsor EV, originally introduced in September 2024, now comes equipped with a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, delivering 136 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque, significantly boosting its range and overall performance.
A major highlight is the addition of Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), featuring 12 key functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and more.
For added safety, the system offers three levels of alerts—audio, visual, and haptic—to ensure maximum occupant protection. The EV Pro also boasts vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) support, making it a well-rounded offering in India’s growing electric vehicle segment.
Next up is the Kia Clavis, a new premium MPV scheduled for launch on May 8, 2025. Pre-launch bookings have unofficially begun at select dealerships, and Kia has already teased the vehicle in its production-ready form.
The Clavis draws design inspiration from the Kia EV6, showcasing a bold and modern exterior. While interior details are yet to be revealed, expect a minimalist, tech-forward cabin, influenced by the Kia Syros.
The Clavis is likely to share its engine lineup with the Kia Carens, offering both petrol and diesel options.
One of the most anticipated launches of the month is the arrival of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, finally making its way to Indian shores. Pre-bookings open on May 5, 2025, exclusively on the official Volkswagen India website. The performance hatch will be available in limited units as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 261 bhp and 370 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 250 kmph. Deliveries are expected to begin in June 2025.
Rounding out the month is the Tata Altroz Facelift 2025, marking the first major update to the hatchback since its debut in 2020. The full reveal is slated for May 9, with the market launch expected on May 22, 2025.
The facelift will bring several significant updates, including:
Mechanically, the Altroz will continue with its current engine lineup – petrol, turbo-petrol, diesel, and CNG. The update aims to boost its appeal in the highly competitive premium hatchback segment.
