New Car Buying Platform
MG Motor, in partnership with JSW Group, will be launching the Windsor EV on September 11. Sold as Cloud EV by Wuling in China, the crossover utility vehicle (CUV) will come with a vast array of equipment on board and other carmakers may follow suit to populate the new segment. This will be MG’s third green offering after Comet and ZS EV and will be wholly manufactured in India. Rivals upon launch to include Curvv EV and Mahindra XUV400.

MG has been releasing multiple teasers showcasing key features. On the exterior front, it can boast a 360-degree camera setup, Hyundai IONIQ 5-like glass roof, 18-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate and an advanced driver’s assistance systems (ADAS) suite.
Overseas, the electric Wuling equivalent gets bubble-style synthetic leatherette sofa seats, 35-degree reclinable rear seats, 382 litres of boot space extendable up to 1,700 litres (rear seats folded), wireless charging and flush door handles. Apart from that, MG may also equip the Cloud EV with a digital multi-information display (MID), wood-finish dashboard, electrically powered seats and four disc brakes, implying electric parking brakes will be available.
We expect a single charge range of up to 460 km from the 50.6 kWh battery pack paired with a front-axle-mounted single electric motor producing a combined power and torque output of 134 bhp and 200 Nm. Abroad, it also comes with a 37 kWh cell that returns a 360 km range, which may not be offered here. MG may provide a DC fast charger with the green four-wheeler that has a charging time of 30 minutes (30-100%), whereas the AC charger takes 7 hours to go from 20-100% charge.
