Tata Motors has just revealed the official teasers for the new Harrier and Safari facelifts. Both SUVs are expected to be launched in the coming weeks, with bookings set to open from October 6. This will be the first major facelift for both the Tata Harrier and the Tata Safari since their launches in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
The new teasers give us a glimpse into what the new 2024 Tata Harrier and Safari will look like. While both models have been spotted testing several times, this is the first time Tata has released any official details. The Safari teaser reveals a new front grille that is wider than before and features horizontal slats with a contrasting piano black finish. Both SUVs retain the split headlight setup but the LED DRLs are now a full-width lightbar. Additionally, the Safari now gets a sharper, vertically positioned headlight cluster similar to the new Nexon facelift.
Meanwhile, Tata’s Harrier teaser does not preview all the styling updates, except for the new LED light bar. This may be because the Harrier facelift could get a different front-end design compared to the Safari.
The side profile of the new Harrier and Safari will be quite similar to the outgoing models, except for new alloy wheels. At the rear, the LED taillights could be reprofiled and connected with a full-width lightbar while the boot lid and bumper will be redesigned as well.
Both the Harrier and Safari facelift will retain their current powertrain option, a 2.0-litre turbo diesel that makes 170 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Tata is also developing a new turbo-petrol engine that was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. However, this powertrain option is likely to be introduced at a later date.
Tata usually releases multiple teasers before the full reveal. Expect the Harrier and Safari facelifts to launch around late October to early November, right in the middle of the festive season.
Upon launch, the Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts will rival the likes of the MG Hector and Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N, Toyota Innova Hycross, and the Kia Carens.
