Indian auto giant Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce the facelifted Harrier and Safari in India soon. As per the latest reports, the SUVs are slated to launch by the 2023 festive season. Both the Harrier and Safari will get a redesigned exterior, updated interior with added features and maybe a new powertrain option.
The new Harrier and Safari have already been spotted testing in India. While the test mules have been clad in camouflage, spy shots reveal that the SUVs have received a major exterior redesign inspired by the recently showcased Tata Harrier EV concept.
Both the Harrier and Safari will get a brand-new front end with the split headlights now sporting a vertical setup. The front grille has been revamped as well, now getting a vertical-slat design while a full-width LED lightbar will sit right above it.
The side profile of the facelifted Harrier and Safari will remain similar to the current model except for new alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUVs will get an updated boot lid and revised taillights that are connected by a LED lightbar.
Latest spy shots have also revealed the interiors of the facelifted Harrier and Safari. That will now feature a dual-tone theme.
In terms of features, both the Harrier and the Safari facelift will get the new 10.25-inch infotainment system and fully digital instrument cluster recently introduced in the SUVs’ Red Dark Edition models.
Other notable features include iRA connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, rotary knob for gear selector and more.
The new Harrier and Safari will also get ADAS features like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Change Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collison Alert, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
The facelifted Harrier and Safari will retain the current 2.0-litre turbodiesel motor that makes 170 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Tata Motors may also introduce a new petrol engine showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit pumps out 170 bhp with 280 Nm of max torque.
Tata is expected to launch the facelifted Harrier and Safari by October 2023, with production to start a month earlier. The SUVs will rival the likes of the MG Hector and Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N, and Hyundai’s Creta and Alcazar.
