BYD Seal Overview
BYD Seal, which made its India entry in March 2024, is the third electric offering from the Chinese EV manufacturer after the Atto 3 and e6 (now replaced by the eMax 7). The premium electric sedan boasts a futuristic design language and efficient powertrain options. It’s an ideal choice for buyers transitioning from ICE to electric mobility without compromising on performance, technology, and features. In India, the Seal comes as a CBU (Completely Built-Up) unit from China.
BYD Seal Price
The Seal model lineup is spread across 3 variants – Dynamic, Premium, and Performance – priced between Rs 41.00 lakh and 53.00 lakh . The entry-level Dynamic trim is available only with the 61.44kWh, RWD setup, while the mid-spec Premium comes with the larger 82.56kWh battery and RWD drivetrain. How Safe is the BYD Seal EV?
Safety is one of the strongest aspects of the BYD Seal. It offers 10 airbags, along with ABS (anti-lock braking system) with hill hold, a 360-degree camera, automatic wipers, and ADAS technology. The ADAS suite includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system, autonomous emergency braking, and more.

The BYD Seal is offered with two battery packs – 61.44kWh and 82.56kWh, benefiting from BYD’s patented Blade technology. The smaller battery has a single motor mounted on the rear axle, claiming a range of 510km (NEDC cycle). Its power and torque outputs are 204bhp and 310Nm, respectively. The larger battery, available with the mid and top variants, can be had with either the single motor RWD or dual motor AWD setups.
The single motor RWD version delivers a claimed power of 312bhp and 360Nm of torque, with a range of 650km. The dual-motor AWD version makes 530bhp and 670Nm, offering a range of 580km. The Seal can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 37 minutes via a 150kW charger. The regular 11kW AC charge takes 8.6 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent. The Seal also supports V2L (vehicle-to-load) charging.
BYD Seal EV Range
As mentioned above, the Seal with the smaller 61.44kWh, RWD setup offers a claimed range of 510km. The larger 82.56kWh battery, with single motor RWD and dual motor AWD configurations, promises ranges of 650km and 580km, respectively.
Colour Options
The Seal electric sedan comes in four color options: Atlantis Grey, Arctic Blue, Cosmos Black, and Aurora White.
Competition Check
The BYD Seal doesn’t have any direct rival in India in terms of price and segment positioning. However, it competes with similarly priced EVs such as the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo C40 Recharge.
