India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
2022 Mercedes Benz C-Class unveiled ahead of its official launch on the 10th May in India.
The Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz C-Class which was revealed globally in February 2021 has finally made its way to the Indian shores. The launch and price announcement are scheduled to take place on the 10th of May, 2022. Into its 5th Generation, the New Mercedes Benz C- Class will be underpinned by MRA (Modular Rear Architecture) platform, which is slightly upgraded from the previous generation.
The updated German luxury sedan is available in three variants namely C200, C220d being the part of the Avantgarde line and the AMG line C300d. The latter two variants are powered by a diesel engine, which hints at Mercedes Benz’s preference for diesel mills in a time when the majority of car manufacturers are skipping on these, owing to strict emission norms. All three variants are equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG).
The sleek exteriors of the new C-Class are inspired by its elder siblings the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the S-Class. The sharp looking headlights paired with the signature Mercedes front grille lends the sedan an aggressive look. Its sloping roofline extends to the rear coupled with striking two-section tail lights and chrome exhaust tips.
Inside the cabin, the luxury sedan is loaded with modern features like the latest 11.9-inch MBUX NTG 7.0 touchscreen infotainment unit with a biometric scanner, connected car tech, over the air updates and voice assistant features. Powered driver seat with memory function, panoramic sunroof, and power-adjustable steering wheel are notable equipment available in the New C-Class. Its dashboard layout follows the new Mercedes-Benz design style similar to the S-Class.
The powertrain options on offer include a 1.5 litre 4 pot petrol motor available in C-200 trim which produces 201 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine is offered in two states of tune i.e. 197 bhp and 440 Nm of torque for the C-220d variant and 261 bhp and 550 Nm for the C-300d AMG trim. Power is channelled through a 9-speed automatic transmission.
In the upcoming C-Class, the customers get to choose from 6 exterior colour options namely Salatine Grey, Mojave Silver, High Tech Silver, Obsidian Black, Cavansite Blue and Opalite White.
According to Mercedes Benz India’s MD and CEO – Martin Schwenk, the German carmaker has an order bank of 5000 units and the waiting period ranges from 2 to 12 months. Apart from this, it is worth noting that the C-Class is one of the best-selling models in the brand’s fleet in the country.
When launched, it will rival against the likes of BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Jaguar XE, Volvo S60 and Lexus ES300h in its segment.
