The homegrown automaker, Mahindra is preparing to launch 4 new electric SUVs in the country in 2025. Out of these, 3 models will be based on the company's new Born electric platform, called INGLO. The company will launch the XUV.e8-based 7-seater electric SUV in early 2025 (Bharat Mobility Show in January) with production expected to begin in December 2024.
Moreover, the XUV.e9 concept-based SUV Coupe will be launched in our market by mid-2025. Mahindra has also started testing the BE.05 concept-based compact electric SUV, which is expected to be launched in the country during the festive season - before Diwali next year. In addition, the homegrown brand will introduce the XUV 3XO-based electric SUV to our market.
The Mahindra XUV.e8 concept-based 7-seater electric SUV will be the next big launch from the homegrown automaker in India. The SUV is currently in the final stages of testing, as the near-production model has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian roads. It will be the first Mahindra electric vehicle to be based on the brand's born-electric INGLO platform, which is compatible with different battery packs. Adding to it, the architecture supports both AWD and RWD setups for SUVs measuring between 4,368mm and 4,735mm.
The new XUV.e8 will come with a three-screen setup for the instrument console, touchscreen infotainment unit and a separate screen for the front co-occupant. The infotainment unit will be compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In terms of features, the SUV gets a flat-bottomed two-spoke steering wheel, a new touch-based climate control panel, a 360-degree camera, an ADAS suite, ventilated seats, a blind view monitor, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone mirroring, and more.
The Mahindra XUV e9 will be a 5-seater Coupe SUV, which is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2025. It has been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads, revealing some of the design and interior details. Based on the same INGLO architecture, the Mahindra XUV.e9 features three 12.3-inch HD displays integrated into the panel. It sports a two-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, a centrally placed gear shift lever, automatic climate control and Level 2 advanced driver assistance system, a Head-Up Display with augmented navigation, and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.
The spy images reveal that the SUV Coupe will have full-width LED lighting elements and tail lights with an LED light band. It gets flush door handles, and a raked roofline extending into the rear, a bumper-mounted headlamp unit, a closed-off grille, and prominent gloss-black cladding.
Both XUV e8 and XUV e9 are expected to feature a battery pack ranging between 60-80kWh, and likely to offer a range of around 400 km to 450 km. Both SUVs will come with an RWD setup as standard, while the top-spec models will receive a dual-motor AWD setup. The power outputs are expected to range between 230bhp and 350bhp.
