India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Tata Motors has a busy end to 2023 with numerous launches planned. After the recent introduction of the Punch CNG, the automaker is also slated to launch the new Punch EV in India this year. Now, the latest spy shots have revealed that the new EV will have a front-mounted slot for the charging port. We take a closer look.
The new spy shots have given us the clearest look yet at the charging slot positioned on the front grille of the new Tata Punch EV, a first for the brand. However, the heavily camo-clad test mule barely reveals anything else. The 2023 Punch EV is expected to look very similar to the ICE version but will get new exclusive alloy wheels, disc brakes on all four wheels, and maybe a different front grille.
Moving inside, the Punch EV could get Tata’s new 2-spoke steering wheel that was first seen on the Curvv concept. It could also get the larger 10.25-inch infotainment system, digital instrument console, climate control, wireless charging, and more.
The all-new Punch EV is underpinned by Tata’s ALFA platform and gen-2 EV architecture. The electric micro-SUV is also expected to use Tata’s Ziptron powertrain. It will likely be powered by a battery pack with a capacity of around 30-40 kWh which will be paired to a single electric motor. Expect peak power to be somewhere between 75 bhp - 110 bhp. Tata could also offer the Punch EV with multiple battery pack sizes.
While Tata is yet to reveal any details, it may launch the Punch EV by the end of 2023. In terms of pricing, it will likely be near the Citroen eC3 range of Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 12.43 lakh (ex-showroom).
