The Tata Punch micro SUV is currently one of the safest models in the country, based on the Global NCAP crash test ratings. The SUV has undergone GNCAP crash test and received a total of 5-star for adult occupants and 4-star for child occupancy.
For safety and security, the SUV comes with dual front airbags as standard, reverse parking camera, automatic headlamps, front fog lamps, rain sensing wipers, ESP, ABS and EBD with Brake Sway Control, ISOFIX, rear defogger and others. The SUV's platform was stable in the crash test. It is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces 87bhp of power and 115 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. In CNG mode, the power and torque output drops to 72 bhp and 103 Nm of torque. The CNG engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The manual petrol variant offers a mileage of 20.09kmpl, while the AMT variant delivers 18.8kmpl. The CNG version returns an impressive mileage of 27 km/kg.
The Punch.ev is offered with two battery packs 25kWh and 35kWh, both paired with a front-axle mounted electric motor to offer a range of up to 315 km and 421 km, respectively. The smaller battery pack offers 80bhp and 114Nm, while the 35kWh unit produces 120bhp and 190 Nm.
