About Mahindra Cars India
Mahindra & Mahindra was founded on 2nd October 1945 by JC and KC Mahindra as a steel trading company. In 1947, Mahindra Cars assembled 75 Jeeps that came from Willy Overland Export Corporation, USA as CKD units at its Mazagon, Bombay plant. After that, Mahindra made an iron and steel deal with Mitsubishi as they sourced 5,000 tons of steel for building wagons.
Having various JVs down the line with companies like ITCI and Peugeot, it became the largest-selling tractor brand in India during 1983. Mahindra Cars got a complete makeover with a new logo and launched the Bolero SUV back in 2000. Following the launch of Bolero, the manufacturer gained enough traction in the market and launched the Scorpio SUV in 2002.
