New Car Buying Platform
British luxury carmaker, BMW, has launched 3 new cars in the Indian market today. The new BMW 5-Series LWB (Long Wheelbase) has been launched at a starting price of Rs 72.90 lakh. On the other hand, BMW has introduced the new Mini Cooper S and Countryman Electric - priced at Rs 44.90 lakh and Rs 54.90 lakh, respectively.
Not just cars, BMW India has also launched the new CE04 electric scooter in the Indian market. Interested buyers can book the new models online or at authorised BMW and Mini Stores.
Set to rival the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the new BMW 5 Series LWB will be the largest car in its segment. It measures 5,175mm in length, 1,900mm in width and 1,520mm in height, and has a segment-longest wheelbase of 3,105mm. In fact, it is larger than the upcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class Long Wheelbase.
It is available in a single 530Li variant, which is available with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is benefitted with a 48V mild-hybrid system and is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 6.5 seconds.
The new-gen Cooper S has been launched in a petrol avatar in the country. However, an all-electric SE version will also be introduced before the end of this year. It comes with Mini's signature design elements, featuring round-shaped headlights, a bigger octagonal MINI grille and triangular-shaped tail-lamps.
The cabin also has a retro-modern design. It comes with a circular 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment screen, which is developed in collaboration with Samsung. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 204hp and 300Nm of torque. This is around 26hp and 20Nm higher than its predecessor. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
It is based on the same architecture that underpins the BMW iX1. Compared to the petrol model, the Mini Countryman EV is longer, wider and taller. The company claims that the new electric model offers an extra 130mm legroom in the second-row. The overall styling and interior bits are shared with the Cooper S.
The Mini Countryman electric is available with a 66.45kWh battery pack. It is offered with a single-motor front-wheel-drive as well as dual-motor all-wheel-drive layouts. While the former offers 204hp and 250Nm, the AWD version delivers 313hp and 494Nm of torque. The single-motor version claims to offer an electric range of 462km. On the other hand, the dual-motor version has a claimed range of 433km in a single charge.
