Citroen will launch an SUV-coupe, Basalt, in the second half of 2024 in the country. The coupe SUV will come with an estimated starting price of Rs.11 lakh to Rs.15 lakh ex-showroom. It combines a coupe-SUV look with a sleek roof design.
The Citroen Basalt will certainly have better features inside the cabin. Some of the interior features that can be expected include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system supported by a 7-inch digital driver's display. Comfort and convenience features to be included will probably be automatic air conditioning, cruise control, push-button engine start/stop, keyless entry, and wireless charging. It has electrically folding mirrors with a memory function.
The Basalt SUV-coupe has a different exterior design. It has muscular lines due to its squared-off wheel arches and 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. Further, it continues with pull-type door handles, while at the back, it gets a more raised boot lid design than the bonnet. At the back, this Basalt is defined by neat surfacing, wraparound LED taillamps, a contrasting silver skid plate, and a dual-tone bumper in black and silver colors.
As far as safety features are concerned, Basalt is speculated to come loaded with complete protection via up to six airbags and electronic stability control besides making sure with a clear view through its rear parking camera and tire-pressure monitoring system.
It is expected to feature the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that powers the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross compact SUV. The delivered power is about 110PS, with up to 205Nm of maximum torque available. Customers will have the option to engage in driving through the availability of either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Citroen Basalt will be the first mass-market SUV-coupe offered in India. It would be a rather unique product without any direct rival, however, it can be an alternative for SUVs, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara. In the future also, it is supposed to face competition from upcoming products like Tata Curvv.
In a nutshell, the Citroen Basalt SUV-coupe will come with sporting elegance, offer advanced safety equipment, and efficient drivetrain choices. In such a competitive Indian SUV market, it positions itself to be able to corner originality and versatility. It seeks customers with the style, functionality, and advanced technology that it brings into the mix.
