While pick-up trucks are some of the best-selling vehicles in the world, the body style has never proved to be popular in the Indian market. In fact, there are only two lifestyle pick-ups on sale, the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu V-Cross. Now, latest spy shots reveal that there may well be a new entrant in the segment from Force Motors. We take a closer look.

The latest leaked pictures reveal quite a few details about the Force pick-up truck. In India, the brand is expected to use the Gurkha nameplate for the upcoming vehicle. The pick-up has already been showcased by Indonesia-based Republik Motor at a Defence Expo and Forum.
Visually, it looks like the Gurkha pick-up is based on the automaker’s Cruiser 8-seater MUV. It has replaced the latter’s last row of seats with an open-top loading bay and a side-hinged half tailgate. The rear windshield features sliding windows to get access to the rear when on the move. The front end will be similar to the Gurkha, featuring LED headlights, upright bonnet, a rugged bumper, and an optional snorkel air intake. We can also notice the test mule wearing 18-inch alloy wheels while the taillights are borrowed from the Cruiser.
Force Motors uses a single powertrain option across its entire product range. This happens to be a Mercedes-Benz sourced 2.6-litre turbo diesel engine that makes 90 bhp with 250 Nm of peak torque. The Gurkha pick-up will also use the same motor. Transmission duty here will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox.
While a launch date is yet to be officially confirmed, the Force Gurkha pick-up may be introduced in the Indian market by late 2023 to early 2024. Expect it to be priced between Rs 13 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
