Jaguar is entering a bold new chapter with the India debut of its Type 00 EV concept, marking its first step toward becoming an all-electric luxury car brand. After being revealed in Miami earlier this year, the concept car has toured cities like Paris, London, and Monaco, and will soon visit Munich and Tokyo before reaching Mumbai for a showcase at the Jio Convention Centre on June 14.
The Jaguar Type 00 concept marks a radical departure from the brand’s traditional design language. The name ‘00’ reflects zero emissions and a complete brand overhaul under Tata Motors ownership. As part of its rebranding strategy, Jaguar has also launched a "woke" advertising campaign that has sparked widespread discussion online.
Unlike previous Jaguar models known for their flowing lines and elegance, the Type 00 EV concept embraces a boxy, futuristic design while still retaining classic Grand Tourer proportions. A long bonnet, a coupe-like rear taper, and a cabin pushed toward the back offer a unique blend of modern and traditional cues.
Key design highlights include:
Step inside, and the Jaguar Type 00 concept showcases a clean, minimalist cabin. The layout features a raised center console that divides the driver and passenger spaces, along with two large fold-away digital displays.
What sets the interior apart are the three customization 'totems' — Brass, Travertine, and Alabaster — which allow users to tailor everything from screen visuals to ambient lighting, offering a personalized luxury EV experience.
While Jaguar has yet to reveal the exact battery specs of the Type 00 concept, it has confirmed some key performance figures:
The car is built on the brand-new JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) platform, which will underpin all future Jaguar EVs. Production for the Type 00 is expected to begin soon, with a global market launch slated for 2026.
