Jeep India has committed to bring its flagship SUV, the Grand Cherokee back to India on 11 November 2022. Automaker has confirmed this announcement with a promotional banner listing the model on its official website. Once launched this will be the fourth ‘Made in India’ model from the company.
The new Grand Cherokee now features the brands updated styling language recently seen on the Meridian SUV. The front end of the vehicle is characterised by the traditional Jeep seven-slot grille and is flanked by sleek headlights with LED DRLs. Also new will be the LED taillights along with a floating roof treatment with blacked-out D-pillars.
Reports suggest that Jeep will be launching the standard five-seat Grand Cherokee variant in India. The new model will feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster and a secondary touchscreen dedicated to the front passenger. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, HUD, ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, and more. Jeep has also confirmed the SUV will be getting ADAS tech.
Unlike previous generations, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee will be offered with only a 2.0-litre petrol engine option producing around 375 bhp and 637 Nm. The system will come paired to the familiar 8-speed automatic gearbox with 4X4 Select Terrain system as standard.
Jeep is expected to price the Grand Cherokee at Rs 85 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, the flagship SUV model will compete against the likes of the BMW X5, Land Rover Discovery and the Mercedes GLE. Deliveries of the upcoming model is expected to start by December 2022.
