Lexus India has closed its provisional bookings on its diesel SUV, LX 500d. The Lexus dealers of India confirmed it. The SUV, which entered the market in 2022, has been one of India's best-seller luxury off-roaders. The SUV launched in the market at Rs. 2.82 crore price and only one diesel SUV of Lexus Indian portfolio.
Lexus has not specified the reason why the bookings were cancelled. Lexus India on Instagram said that the LX 500d would "arrive soon." This would indicate that the bookings would be up for grabs again very soon. It is also not known whether the new launches will have any upgrades or changes, like the hybrid engine. There could also be a slight hike in the price of the car.
Lexus LX 500d is spacious, luxurious SUV. It's the longest of Lexus' fleet, at a length of 5,100mm. It draws great reference from the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 as far as the quantity of parts shared with it goes. LX 500d carried a 3.3-liter V6 diesel engine which offers 308 horsepower and 700Nm torque. Even though it weighs over 3 tonnes and is big, it speeds from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8 seconds. It also has a 10-speed automatic transmission system and four-wheel drive.
The LX 500d has lots of luxury features. It features a 12.3-inch entertainment screen, a premium audio system with 25 speakers, and ventilated seats for comfort. The SUV also has a sunroof as an added feature of luxury. For safety reasons, the LX 500d has 10 airbags, ABS, VSC, and TPMS.
The LX 500d is in competition with other luxury SUVs such as the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, BMW XM, and Range Rover. The SUVs are priced at the similar amount and have the similar amenities. The LX 500d is unique, though, as it is bigger and has a stronger diesel engine, and it is one-of-a-kind in its class.
Lexus has claimed that the bookings of the LX 500d will be postponed for some time but then resume shortly. Whether there would be any updates or changes being released before the next generation of the LX 500d remains to be determined. The SUV will still compete with other luxury vehicles that can be found in the Indian market.
