The much-awaited Lexus LX500d has finally been launched at Rs. 2.82 crores (ex-showroom) in India. The Japanese automaker had already started accepting bookings at Rs 25 lakh last month and the final launch price has been confirmed today. Lexus India is expected to deliver their first batch of luxury SUVs between January to March 2023. Based on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, the Lexus LX500d shares several components with the iconic SUV.
While the New Lexus LX 500d SUV retains the upright and boxy stance of the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, the exterior design elements seem to be sharper than its Toyota cousin. The edgy front end of the new luxury SUV features new headlights and the trademark Lexus grille to enhance its sporty look. At the rear side, LX500d gets a sharper design for its LED tail light, a full-width light bar running across the tailgate, and a redesigned bumper.
The new LX500d is offered with 5-seater and 7-seater configurations globally. However, in India, customers will only get the 5-seater LX500d, as suggested by reports. The model offers a dual-screen setup on the dashboard; the upper 12.3-inch unit functions as the infotainment system while the lower 7.0-inch screen displays off-road data and climate control functions.
Underpinned by the GA-F platform, the Lexus LX500d comes equipped with a 3.3 litre V6 twin-turbo diesel engine. It produces a maximum power output of 304 bhp with 700 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty is carried out by a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The best news for SUV enthusiasts is that the LX500d gets all-wheel drive as standard along with Multi-Terrain Modes for off-roading.
Lexus has priced its LX500d SUV at Rs 2.82 crores (ex-showroom, India). The first batch delivery of the new SUV will begin between January to March 2023. The LX500d is going to compete with other iconic SUVs; Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes-Maybach GLS and the New Range Rover.
