Mahindra’s latest electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, have reached an impressive milestone by clocking 10,000 unit sales within 70 days of deliveries starting in March 2025.
This achievement underlines the growing demand for premium electric SUVs in India and sets the stage for tough competition, especially with the recent launch of the Tata Harrier EV.
Launched in November 2024, the BE 6 and XEV 9e have quickly gained popularity for their futuristic design, feature-loaded interiors, and long-range capabilities. Both models are based on Mahindra’s INGLO platform and offer two battery options—59 kWh and 79 kWh—delivering up to 683 km of range on a single charge (claimed).
For now, both SUVs are rear-wheel drive (RWD), but Mahindra has confirmed that all-wheel drive (AWD) variants are in the pipeline to rival the AWD version of the Tata Harrier EV.
Mahindra hasn’t held back when it comes to features. Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e offer:
-Auto park assist
-Panoramic glass roof with ambient lighting
-Dual 12.3-inch displays
-Powered driver’s seat with ventilation
-Premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system
-Auto-dimming IRVM
-Electric tailgate
-Dual-zone climate control
These elements position Mahindra’s born-electric SUVs as high-end offerings in the Indian EV market.
With the success of the BE 6 and XEV 9e, Mahindra now offers three electric models: the XUV400, BE 6, and XEV 9e. While the XUV400 is based on a modified ICE platform, the other two are part of Mahindra’s dedicated EV lineup and mark a clear step forward in the brand’s electric future.
As the Tata Harrier EV enters the scene with similar ambitions, it’s clear that the electric SUV space in India is heating up, and Mahindra’s early success gives it a strong head start.
